Extremo Technologies specializes in the use of extremophilic microalgae in the development of advanced biotechnological solutions.

At Extremo Technologies, we harness extremophilic microalgae to create advanced biotechnological systems. Our flagship product, the BIO-Panel, is engineered to support human space missions by converting CO₂ into oxygen and biomass – while offering unique, sustainable solutions for terrestrial environments such as offices, homes and public spaces.

The unique species of algae and light manipulations can provide a self-sufficient system for each of us – air purification and improvement.

The bio-panel was designed and developed for more sustainable terrestrial applications, as well as space conditions.

Our microalgae exhibit rapid growth, high adaptability, and efficient oxygen production, making them ideal for integration into life support systems for space habitats. Additionally, our products are designed to be sustainable and resource-independent, capable of being cultivated in wastewater, thus reducing waste and promoting circular economy principles. The bio-panel is developed for space applications, but also the sustainable and clear environments as terrestrial applications for homes, offices and interiors.

Milestones

• ESA BIC Poland 2024
Selected to the ESA Business Incubation Centre Poland program, supporting the development of BIO-Panel as a dual-use space-to-Earth biotechnology.

• Patent Application (December 2024)
Filed a patent application covering the BIO-Panel’s modular cultivation architecture and extremophile-based biological integration system.

• Kozminski Impact Booster 2025
Through the Kozminski Impact Booster program, we expanded our production and R&D capabilities, including the acquisition of a dedicated bioreactor to support scalable cultivation, testing, and validation of BIO-Panel microalgae systems.

• ISS flight Experimet 2025 — First Algae Testing in Microgravity
BIO-Panel technology forms part of our space-research roadmap, which includes the first Polish algae-based experiment tested in microgravity conditions on the ISS (via commercial and ESA-supported collaborations).
