Our 2U × 2U Cube (ET Cube) was developed for the Space Volcanic Algae experiment (Axiom-4, June 2025) and serves as a payload platform for biological cultivation and monitoring in microgravity. It enables the controlled growth of biocultures, supporting studies on genetic adaptation, cellular physiology, photosynthesis efficiency, and other biotechnological processes relevant to life-support and resource-generation systems in space.

The Cube can be adapted for other biotechnology missions or ground-based simulations. Customizations are possible.

We provide:

  • Support in bio-payload design and integration,
  • Consultations on experiment planning and hardware adaptation,
  • On-site assistance during pre-flight preparation and verification,
  • Compatibility with ICE Cubes facilities and integration of an innovative microsensor for oxygen production monitoring developed by Extremo Technologies in collaboration with Univesity of Tartu.

Thanks to collaboration with ICE Cubes, the ET Cube allows monitoring of biological cultures through an onboard camera and oxygen data acquisition system. A dedicated venting, thermal control, and lighting system ensures stable internal conditions and optimal growth parameters throughout the mission.

Our platform allows you to fly your own experiment with biological cultures, test growth conditions in microgravity, and collect scientific data from the orbit. We are open to collaboration with universities, research institutes, and private companies interested in developing space biotechnology payloads.

Currently, negotiations are ongoing to participate in two Czech biotechnology experiments (AstroDesmus and CryoAlgae) focused on microalgae research in space conditions, where the ET Cube will be used as part of the experimental setup.

“Studying microorganisms in space is vital for developing future biotechnologies and self-sustaining habitats. Each experiment brings us closer to understanding how life can thrive beyond Earth.”
